Recommended: School time change
Another issue that deeply affects students is the lack of time to eat. All three thousand students are fed at once, but the lunch period only lasts for thirty minutes. By the time students are actually able to sit down with their food, most of the period has already flown by. As one teacher points out: “The line for kids to get their food is very long... They get 10 minutes probably to eat their meals” (Kozol 717).
Why the school supporting to change a lunch menu. Some students' favorite food will be eliminate so they can't eating in a cafeteria . Each year having different rules about healthier lunch menu. It's a good idea an my opinion to change to new menu. Students' they don't like the pizza and cheeseburger at the school because to much fat on them.
Many students also have after-school jobs, which can be crucial for their financial well-being and work experience. Altering school start times could affect their ability to work these jobs, as they may need to leave earlier or later than before, or may not be able to work at all due to schedule conflicts. Switching school start times could also affect transportation arrangements for students who rely on buses, carpools, or other modes of transportation to get to school. Changing the start times could mean that buses need to be rescheduled or routes need to be adjusted, which could create confusion and inconvenience for students and their
By changing the school start time, all other activities are impacted and it requires a change in all aspects of daily
“...Teens to show up to class before 8 a.m. start time beginning is not good for their health or their report cards.” This was once stated by scientists. Many schools in Seattle believe that later start times in schools will lead to better grades on report cards. Associated Press has written an article called “More zzz’s can lead to more A’s: Seattle schools move start time for teens” to inform people about what is going on in Seattle about the later start times in schools.
Delaying Starting Time Do you feel exhausted when you wake up in the morning to go to school? Did you doze off in an important class? Consider this: What if schools started too early? Usually High School and Middle School
For example, sometimes the school will serve spaghetti in little plastic bowls with meatballs. But unfortunately, the meals are so popular that by the time students come to fifth lunch about an hour later, all the food is gone. Or, if there is still some left, it is soggy and lukewarm under the dull heat lamps. The consequence is that some students have to pick another meal, or they have to eat an unsatisfactory lunch that will leave them hungry for the rest of the day, like eating one roll of cheap, and usually stale, mini donuts. Finally, there are mental benefits of having first lunch over
Later School Start Times “About 90% of the teens, problem is insufficient sleep” (Dr. Chen), most of the adolescents are suffering of sleep deprived which is unabling them to be healthy and pay attention in class. Many of the schedules that are given in schools are the worst for teens because one one the things they require them to do is to wake up early to attend to the classes. Middle and High School start times should start later because it will benefit students academic growth, and improve health . Starting school times later will make teen have an academic growth. Starting school later could help teens academically because, they would be more attentive to any work or test that comes their way.
The principal is trying to change school lunch menu's to healthier meals. I strongly believe that this is a good idea to change the lunches because of the following reasons: healthier meals makes kids grow big and strong, it gives you more energy to move around, and it taste delicious. Schools all around should consider changing their lunches for the better of their student. This is for the better of the student to have healthy food. I will go into greater detail in the following paragraphs.
In conclusion schools should not change the lunches because they don't have the power to tell students can or can't eat, they don't have the time and money, and finally because they are not allowed to put a limit on how much a student can eat due to the “No Kid Hungry
But if we were to not have lunch, then we could either get out of school earlier and be able to eat at home, or use that extra period for more class time. We would also be able to eat whatever we want and actually know what is
correlation between schools staring later and improvements in academics and student health. According to Julie Boerger, Ph.d. in the article, “Benefits of later school start times” “ Studies have shown that starting school later not only helps students get more sleep, but also confers a number of important associated benefits related to health (lower rates of depressive symptoms), safety (lower rates of car crashes), academic performances (lower drop out rates, fewer absences and tardiness, improving in standardized reading and math scores), and quality of life (improved sports performance) (6).” This is one contribution that our society can act on to help reduce issues that are related to sleep deprivation in children.
Teachers could start to complain or the lunch lady's about the lunch change. Another thing is the school could get a bad name or reputation if enough people complain about it to. If the menu is not changed it would save a lot of trouble in the long run. People think the menu should change due to obesity, obesity has nothing to do with healthy
Modern sentencing practices are outrageous and out of control. People go to prison for 162 years for stealing a car or 25 to life just for simply making a mistake of leaving their child in the car for no longer than 20 minutes without killing or harming the child. Even the innocent get sentenced major years for crimes they didn’t even commit. Lately sentencing has been crazy, so at this point in time sentence reforming is relevant in this case. To begin with, sentence reforming needs to take place because people are getting way to many years for petty crimes they didn't commit.
Stress has become a major issue for high school students. Many students have seven classes, participate in sports, have after school activities, homework, and need to get an adequate amount of sleep each night. Some parents and outside influencers don’t see the benefits of having a longer lunch period for high school students. Students complain about how long school is now but they don 't have enough time outside of school to complete everything they are expected to. While it is understandable that some parents wouldn’t want longer lunches because it could result in safety issues and students having to remain in school 30 minutes longer than the traditional time, longer lunches would give students a chance to complete homework, get help from teachers, and eat a nutritious meal.
