Many students in high school, begin experimenting with marijuana, tobacco and other drugs. However, contrary to popular belief, these are not the most popular drugs among children. The drug is actually legal for some people however, it has been abused by adolescents. This drug is alcohol. Though legal when someone turns 21, it is a common crime for high school students. This crime could be completely eliminated if alcohol was legalized for all ages, or if the age limit was lowered to be available at the age of 18. Though this would be a fantastic proposition, like with all other things, there are some downfalls to this. The first con to this is that it is possible that more high school students will get drunk more readily as there would be a more abundant amount available to them. This leads to the second point which could lead to alcohol related deaths, directly, through alcohol poisoning, or indirectly, through driving under the influence. Also, this will allow a more abundant amount of people into nightclubs which is one o the more dangerous places to be at night. However, in spite of these reasons, having alcohol available to 18 year olds should be legalized for three reasons: 1. at the age of 18 people are now considered adults, 2. this would cause less binge drinking in unsafe places, 3. it would stop teens from …show more content…
