It started with a ship attack from Vietnam which missed the US ships. But the U.S felt threatened so they shot at Vietnam boats.Despite the U.S superior war technology, the Vietnamese overpowered us and sent soldiers home. One of the reasons that the U.S lost the Vietnam war was because of the unusual strategies the Vietnamese used. The Vietnamese used a strategy called “guerrilla warfare” which is a type of warfare that uses surprise attacks. Another big reason for the loss in Vietnam was the lack of support that the US had from their own people. The war was very controversial towards the end of the war because it challenged the morals of the government. And this led to widespread protest against the war. By this happening it certainly made it harder to progress in the war without the whole of the US retailing against it. And this one of the main reasons lead us to the first loss And for the last reason as to why the US lost the war was Vietnam's experience and willpower. By willpower I mean the drive that the Vietnamese had to win because this isn't just a regular for them, if they lost they would be completely taken over by the U.S. and everything they believed in would go out the window. Unlike the US soldiers, there were approximately 1.9 million service personnel into their ranks over the course of the Vietnam War (statista). Which was two thirds of the US soldiers that were there fighting even though they didn't want to be there, and on the other hand the Vietnamese were all mostly experienced soldiers who volunteered to fight for their
