Thomas Edison should be considered a hero. He is a hero because he has invented many things that are crucial to how we live today. He also never gives up on anything, and last but not least he has saved many lives. Those are all aspects that you would want in a hero. Thomas Edison has invented many things, but he has been most well known for inventing the lightbulb. He also not only invented the lightbulb but he did it so that it was cheap enough that a lot of people could get them. He thought about the people and how some can not afford that much and that is the main reason why he tried to make it affordable. Also when Thomas Edison was 22 years old he created the first motion picture camera. Not only did he do that, but he thought about …show more content…
Thomas never gives up in fact he embraces his failures. He once said, “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” He also once said,” Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.” That just proves how much he works and how good of a mindset he has. When Thomas was a younger child he went to a one room school. There he learned everything he needed to know, but he wanted to know more. So he asked questions everyday on everything, and his teacher did not see it like that. His teacher said that he was dumb and was to stupid to know all the facts that is why he asked questions. Once his mom heard that she said I will teach him myself. So she did, she taught him from that day forward. A lot of people today would just give up if that happened to them, but he did not. He embraced it and showed up with a positive outlook on the situation. He learned and now is considered one of the more smart people ever to walk this earth. Also when Thomas was 12 years old he was late for getting on a train so he jumped up and the conductor grabbed him by the ear. When the conductor grabbed him the ear it made him permanently deaf in one ear. When that happened instead of him company about it he took the challenge on. He did not care he just kept going on with his life. He accepted it and did not complain about it. He just went on with his …show more content…
His inventions are still used today or everyday life. For example, the lightbulb is used everyday. Without him we would be sitting in dark. If we sat in dark there would be more murders. “Most murders happen between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m.” (Juveniles). Also we would not have movies. He was the first person to invent the motion picture camera. He created the first movie ever. Movies not only give us joy and happiness but people also make a living off of it. Without him those people would not be doing what they love. They also could be in debt because they don’t have a job, but without him there would not be what we call an art today. He not only has impacted people with his inventions but also just him being himself. He has inspired many people today. According to Times magazine he is the 7th most inspirational person ever. “Much of the world we live in today is a legacy of Thomas Alva Edison and of his devotion to science and innovation.” (Times Staff). Also just being himself, he saved someone's life by putting himself in danger. When Thomas was 12 years old he saved a 3 year old girl from getting hit by a train. He was at the train station one day waiting to get picked up and he saw a girl on the tracks ahead of him. 100 yards behind that girl was a train. As the girl stood there frozen Thomas was running as fast as he could until he was finally caught up to the girl. He pushed her out of the way as the train was in
