Thinking back to my childhood my favorite books, they not only taught me things, but inspired me to do more, to think bigger. I use to have a book with a hundred interesting facts and records. This was about fifteen years ago, but I can still recall a few things I loved about that book. I remember the page that told me how popcorn kernels popped and why it happened.

In that chapter, you can see Victor Frankenstein run away from The Creature as soon as he saw The Creature come to life. He is scared so awfully that he can not even look at The Creature.
In his article “Locked in literacy: why reading isn’t always good for you,” Leo Robson explains how reading can in fact do more harm than good. He provides detailed descriptions on the side effects, quoting other authors, of how reading causes damage to: the influence of readers and their authors, a person’s mentality, and a person’s time. The world is full of people who are able to write. However, while there are numerous books, the ability to write what one desires instead of writing what other’s desire has began to dissipate.
Books opened my eyes to enthralling revelations at a young age. They gave me solace in my times of worry and melancholy. Especially where the lost protagonist overcame her obstacles and fought her fears. I could always relate to such struggles. I understood what it meant to feel diminutive and powerless.
During summer while other kids were outside having fun, i was indoors with my AC on reading different kind of books because of a soccer injury i had. If it wasn 't for that injury i don 't think i would of ever gotten a book on my own. It all started with an injury to a book that became the book that kept me going to find more books to read. The book is called " A Child Called It: One Child 's Courage to Survive" by David Pelzer. Before this i thought all books were boring but this one totally changed my mind.
After reading this chapter, I can certainly say that studying literature and writing is immensely important, because it helps develop a variety of skills that can be applied to any profession and life in general. Studying literature and writing can help improve a person's ability to weigh options, understand others, and use their imagination. The ability to read and write well are also critical skills that lots of employers look for when employing new workers. Being able to read and write well can really distinguish an applicant from the rest of the people applying. Reading and writing well also helps employees gain promotions and other advancements in their fields.
For as long as I can remember I have loved reading. Fiction, non-fiction, biographies, it doesn’t really matter to me. I remember my mom trying to teach me how to read when I was three. I started off reading small Dr. Suess books and then it was on to newspapers and chapter books. One of my all-time favorite books when I was a kid was Junie B. Jones.
For me, literacy has always been a problem to this day I am still learning how to speak, and write using proper literacy. Literacy is not just reading and writing, anyone can do that but the ability to understand such things, to comprehend them that is, true literacy. My development for literacy has always been a struggle as I have spoken about before. I had a speak impediment when I was younger which used me to go into different classes which took me away from formal English classes.

During my elementary years, I don’t recall being interested in reading, but I do remember the first time I fell in love with it. I was in my 7th-grade reading class. I just completed a quiz when my teacher realized that I had nothing to do after. She offered me a book that I will remember for the rest of my life because it is the book that basically started my reading journey. It was called Tears of a Tiger by Sharon Draper, I loved the book so much that I read the whole entire series.
Today the books that always manage to get my attention are usually the books based on true events. My earliest memory of being read to isn’t necessarily being read to by my parents but being read to by teachers. Both my parents were always working, so they never had time to read to me. I didn’t have any older siblings to help me so when I started school, it was the first time I was exposed to reading.
The world of picture books soon came to a close and so arrived the multitude of textbooks along with simple chapter books. My mind wasn’t ready to fully comprehend all that was being thrown my way. Which in turn caused me to fall behind my classmates as a consequence, I was sent to Guided Reading more than my peers. We would sit in a tiny room around a tiny table with three to four other students. They gave us picture books to start with.
