Historians have written about the Feud and have come up with many explanations were given for the Feud. A Kentucky historian believed that the problems created were from lack of education and lack of religious values. As the Appalachians were moving forward with the time and the Baptist preachers were taking advantage by preaching to the mountain people as they were poor sinners and were going to the devil if they did not repent their ways Mc Kinney said feuds increased because of the exploitation of the town for money and politics and right to vote. She explained it wasn’t about the mountain man attitude or vulture but about their community becoming industrialized, which McCoy’s believed, while the Hatfield’s wanted their community to stay the same and not move on, Times and changes were coming and every clan had their own belief and idea how to handle the changes. Hatfield and McCoy expressed themselves when an outgrowth of violence. These Appalachian men and their families were always a source of conflict. They each had their own clan, which have its culture, ways, rules and beliefs and they would live and die by them. They were hesitant to talk, to be a friend to others outside their clan, for fear of the consequences. Even Waller thought they relied on their clan and nobody else, if they found out you could be rejected, or insults or name calling and possibly physical violence and even death. Each clad were opposed to any new ideas or ways they didn’t understand so they did their best to ignore and maybe it would go away. When new ways came into their community, some people were scared of what their community would be like. With the time changing their community would change and prosper. You would see money being spent and politicians would come around trying to get the people could vote. Social changes were beginning to appear. These people, the mountain family were made fun of and new things the people in the community would not understand. Each side would be bias on way they believed so they make harsh judgments about others. Mountain man were more than a dirty dirt poor bearded man and just like everyone else, who felt that the world was finally catching up to their rural area, and what they believed culturally and otherwise would change
