I remember the countless hours I spent baking at my Great-Grandma's house, the place I called home. It didn't matter what I was to bake but you could just say “I want baked goods” and I would be on top of it. I was able to get my hands on recipes that date back several generations behind my grandma. I would get excited to just see the old, aged, brown note cards. Seeing the aged recipes I was determined to know how good they would come out. I soon found out the older the recipe the better the food. Every time I baked I would only feel happiness and I realized at a very young age that I wanted to be the next Rachel Ray. Starting off you only make around $28,000 a year. The median income for a pastry chef is $61,000, the maximum salary could get to $100,000 (salary¨). Working in Las Vegas I could expect anywhere from $48,000-78,000 a year. The state average for a pastry chef is around $31,000 per year. There are many factors that can affect my salary range, including benefit packages, bonuses, and the location. In this field of work I can work at multiple different places. I can work at hotels, casinos, bakeries, catering business, and independent bakeries(¨abtech¨). To become a professional pastry chef I will need to have a bachelor's degree along with over seven years of experience. The risks can be possible cuts, and burns. I could make a mistake and accidentally give someone food poisoning. I will constantly have the fear of someone disliking my abilities as a pastry chef. I can also see the positive looks and happiness or joy from someone enjoying the baked goods that will satisfy so many people's stomach Being a woman in this career field is a mild setback because of some people doubting the skills a woman can possess. Although some places can have a great outcome with health, dental, and optical but not all places a pastry chef can get those benefits.
