In this day in age, the demand in the restaurant industry is ever changing and difficult to keep up with. In 2015, the demand for healthier food options and reasonable portions sizes is higher than ever. The real question is, should restaurants be responsible for providing those options for their customers.

With the extensive amounts of restaurants in this country, should it be mandatory for all of them to provide healthy choices for special customers? In my opinion, I do not believe that that is necessary at all. If someone wants something healthy then they can go to a restaurant that already has healthy choices to choose from. Think about it, why would a place that is known for it's fatty foods and high calorie count have to incorporate healthy food items? A customer would not go to Heart Attack Grill and expect a salad to be made for them, unless they want the dressing to be pure lard. It's not logical for the restaurant to provide other menu items to customers that want to be difficult. …show more content…

But if you're on a diet and are trying to eat lighter, do not go to Famous Dave's, go to a place like California Pizza Kitchen and order a salad instead. As a customer, you can't expect an establishment to give you healthy choices if that is not what they specialize in.

I also have that same mindset when it comes to portion sizes. If you are trying to watch your calories and eat only small portions, do not go to Hash House a Go Go, go to somewhere like Olive Garden and eat the amount you want and take home the rest. A restaurant already has so much to deal with, it should not have to worry about Mrs. skinny Minnie trying to watch her weight while trying place an order at The Cheesecake Factory. The people who go to places that have large portions go tree for one reason; eat until they are fuller than
