After World War Two, the U.S. and the Soviet Union had an argument the Soviet Union was increasing their military power and this is one of the reasons the Cold War started at this time: the United States was trying to contain their communism and began paying attention to the Soviet Union's military. The United States started supplying for war. The Cold War impacted more than world events and the U.S. foreign policy. It impacted U.S. domestic policy and American society because society people were scared of the communism, therefore it was during the red scare and witch made people very uncomfortable from 1917-1920. The second impact the Cold War had on the U.S. was communist in the U.S. and that they might subvert schools and labor and other institutions. So the U.S. started to increase the investigation of people and see if they are communist or not. The first piece of evidence that demonstrates this impact is. “As some Americans worried that communists might subvert schools, labor unions and other institutions of everyday life, the House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC) and Senator Joseph McCarthy increased their investigations of individuals and groups deemed suspicious”. This evidence shows the Cold War had this impact on the U.S. because Americans were scared of communists and that the HUAC and Senator Joseph McCarthy increased their investigation into communists. The Cold War impacted U.S. domestic policy and the American people because of communism and how it can affect the U.S. and Americans because they are afraid to speak and say what they want to say. It is important to understand how a global event can impact the U.S. at home because people can be scared and afraid to speak their mind and how communists came in and tried to take over but it did not happen in that time
