FINAL EDIT: In my eighth grade English class, we are reading a YA novel titled, “The Outsiders. ” I am amazed by this text because the author, SE Hinton, uses dramatic wording to create tension and imagination in her writing.. When I read this book, it feels like I am in the story, and that every event is the climax of the book.
The Outsiders have countless songs that can relate to the characters we meet. The book “The Outsiders” is a realistic fiction novel written by S.E. Hinton. These songs are, “Death Around the Corner” by 2pac for Johnny, “Don’t Cry” by Guns N’ Roses for Soda-pop, and “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” by The Animals for Dallas. To begin, “Death Around the Corner” is a song by 2pac that speaks about his paranoia with death, which can be associated with Johnny. First, the lyric “I see death around the corner, any day”.

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton depicts a society of teens that are separated by wealth and social status. More specifically the Socials and the Greasers. Each group throughout the story has many difficulties they have to face including peer pressure, upholding a reputation, and tuffness. The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton is a novel based in the 1960’s during a very turbulent time in American history. It tells the story of a 14 year old boy named Ponyboy and his friends, who all belong to a gang named Greasers from the East Side. They’re oppressed by the wealthy group named the Socials (Socs) from the West Side. The two groups wreck havoc across their territories by getting into fights and rumbles. At the beginning of the novel, Ponyboy states “I...have a high IQ and everything, but I don’t use my head”.

The novel revolves around economical class and depending on the clothes you wear , how much money you have or where you 're from you are either a Greaser or Soc . The story paints the picture of the gang Warfare between the east and west sides in the mid 1960s in a town . The conflict in the novel represents the division of the east at West sides. The following essay will discuss each of the 3 conflicts that were encountered between the Socs and Greaser .
The world of today is much different than that of 1984 because the world today is filled with human connection that comes as a direct result of our freedom to show expression. In 1984, the Party restricts the general population from showing their true emotions, which in turn limits the presence of human connection. At the beginning of the novel, Winston explains that facecrime is the act of wearing an improper expression on your face, and it is punishable by death (Orwell 62). This limits people’s ability to connect with one another.
When you think of family you might think of adults and their children, or kids who lost their parents but are still related to each other. The Outsiders by S.E Hinton tells otherwise. It shows that even if you are not related, you can still be family; you can still have love and affection for each other. In the book, there is a contradiction between the gang’s biological family and their “family”. There is connection shown between the greasers from the Socs in the blue Mustang to Johnny dying in the hospital not wanting to see his mother.
