Stakeholders are those groups, individuals and/or organizations that are worried or troubled with the operation of a business. Stakeholders are bothered by a business actions because they can be directly or indirectly afflicted by the performance of the business. Stakeholders can be separated into two different categories. One being internal stakeholders and the other being external stakeholders. Internal stakeholders are the ones that are directly affected by the way the business performs. They are individuals such as the owners, shareholders, creditors, managers, customers, and the employees. Internal stakeholders are often referred to as the primary stakeholders. These stakeholders include individuals such as the public, community businessmen, potential investors and politicians. He began serving on the Corrections Corporation of America board of directors in 2000, this is when the company was battling with scandals connected to prisoner abuse and management misconduct. They will often times make inquiries of medical care, overcrowding, and safety issues. They look into and react to inmate’s complaints. This forces the local Sheriff’s or Department of Corrections to investigate these complaints. This is a positive way that stakeholders are influencing the problems with violence in the prison system. Bringing attention to the problem, (violence in prisons), can only be fixed when those who can help are aware that there is an issue. These people include stakeholders, who have something to lose from the failure of the prison they are involved with. When the stakeholders are aware of the issue, they can contribute to the solution. Solutions involve bringing in money to make prisons more humane for the inmate, bringing in educators to raise our inmates to a level on intellect that they can obtain a job once they are out of prison. Stakeholders have the ability to bring in better food, better housing needs such as bedding, and have the ability to ultimately react to the violence in a positive way. Bringing in stakeholders is a smart way to increase awareness of violence in the prison system. With the help of stakeholders, we would be capable of bringing victim advocates in to help inmates cope with the abuse sustained behind closed
