If you were a homeless man who lives in a cardboard box, then is told to leave, but given 14,000 dollars to leave what do you do? Well Ezekiel Johnson did something out of the norm, especially for being homeless. Walter Dean Myers writes a short story about a homeless man named “Ezekiel Johnson”. He receives 14,000 dollars and doesn't spend it on himself. He buys other homeless people winter coats, because it is the coldest winter yet. He is trying to be made a hero by the news reporters, but he shows that he felt like he had to do that. It was his legacy to help other people in his situation. The life lesson of Ezekiel Johnson was shown by what Ezekiel quoted. Not everything is about you, you have to be more than what you own. This is showing that it doesn't matter how much money you have. It depends are what you do with it to make you a hero, to write your legacy. He has thought further about other people than most people that are no homeless or in financial trouble. Ezekiel is the type of man who his life does not reflect his actions. A homeless man would not buy other homeless people coats. They could do anything with. They could do the right thing with the money. Or they can buy drugs, alcohol or other things that could get them into trouble. Maybe even have to serve jail time. There are lots of homeless people that do not do the right thing. They think that things are worse there is now way things are getting better, so they make it worse. Most people when things get bad they will go to the extreme to make life better for them so they do not get into the mindset they it will never get better so make it worse. In some cases this is true, it will not get better, but the people make the most of
