Picciotto is a retired firefighter, and Paisner is a New York Times bestselling author. The topic of this book is Richard Picciotto’s experience of being at the World Trade Center as a first responder during 9/11, as well as his experience of surviving the collapse of the North Tower while he was still inside it. Richard Picciotto’s purpose for writing this book was to tell his story of being a first responder on 9/11, and how he survived the collapse of the World Trade Center. The entire time I was reading it, Chief Picciotto’s story kept me captivated and hooked me immediately. There was very little information I was able to find on Richard Picciotto’s background. He became a firefighter in the early 70s, approximately 1973. He had a 28 year career as a firefighter, becoming a chief in 1992, and retiring in 2001. He was the battalion commander of FDNY Battalion 11, where he supervised seven companies along with three other battalion chiefs. He has a wife, and two kids. Now, for Daniel Paisner, there is a little bit more information. Daniel Paisner was born on December 12, 1959. He went to college at Tufts University where he graduated in 1982 with B.A. in English. He then received an M.A. in Journalism from Boston University. He is known as a ghostwriter for many celebrities’ books, including Serena Williams, Ray Lewis, Whoopi Goldberg, Gilbert Gottfried, and many others. The sources that were used were mainly just Richard Picciotto’s personal account of what happened, and information that Picciotto got from talking to other firefighters that were also first responders on 9/11. I believe that both authors are very qualified to write this
