The moments that may seem small or insignificant have the greatest chance to change one's life. For me, my small, insignificant moment happened sophomore year. Being in FFA was something I did not think could have such an impact on my life. But the moment I decided to run for our chapter office, was a moment that changed my life. I decided to take a leadership role through the FFA chapter, but it has turned into so much more. It has shaped me into the person I’m today and allowed me to have the friends and memories I do today.
Running for office in the FFA is a huge deal, whether it's at thelocal, state, or national level. It is a position of respect and responsibility among FFA members. Making the decision to pursue a position was a huge one. I was very back-and-forth about it. I knew it would be hard and that I would be running against some amazing members. Being an officer is a lot of responsibility, and I wasn’t sure if it was something I was prepared for. I was anxious and anticipating defeat. I had a few late nights researching the offices and the duties I might have to fulfill. I looked all over the National FFA Organization’s website for the answers to my questions and to ease my nerves. I also talked to all the current officers, my parents, and my Ag advisors. It wasn't as bad as I had anticipated, and I even got elected as an officer! Going through this whole thing showed me that, I can accomplish whatever I set my mind to. I put my energy and time into applying for office and it payed off. I overcame my worry and my nerves and I'm a better person for it. By getting this position, I have gained confidence and leadership abilities I wouldn't have otherwise had. I've made memories and friends that will be there for the rest of my
