The addition of these systems into our everyday lives along with the evolving technology we have has helped to keep life and property much safer than ever before. There are now building codes for different structures in many places across the United States such as apartment buildings, high rises, low rises, houses, and other specific structures. William Channing, who put this system in motion in Boston, had a very good idea for this system that involved a few components for it to work successfully. “The system consisted of 40 miles of wire to connect the central station to 40 signal boxes and 19 bells in churches, schools and fire engine houses”1(Moore, 1). Since this fire alarm system was a newer invention during this time, there were some minor issues that occurred with the system that would later be fixed. The way the system worked was by sending an impulse which breaks the circuit, and then recording a Morse code dot or dash. This was a very good start to what we will soon learn to be an amazing piece of technology that can save a lot of lives. Since then, there has been automatic systems which have evolved into smoke detectors, gas detectors, fire alarm panels, pull boxes, automatic fire suppression systems, mass notification systems, and many more advancements in technology. The need to keep these fire systems in top working order is very important. Over time, there have been many events that have gotten us to where we are today with our fire alarm and suppression
