To some, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is one of those schools you hear comes second to Parsons, but to me Parsons comes second to FIT. FIT is consistent, but in a refreshing way. The school is unceasingly changing with techniques and technology, but yet never loses its classic touch. FIT’s social and academic opportunities has showed me that this is the school where I belong, and I cannot envision myself studying fashion anywhere else.
As a student of FIT, a prestigious and well-known school, I will always conduct myself in the highest standards. My creativity will be demonstrated through the countless design projects given to me. My designs have heart, soul, and diversity. Before sketching I always come up with a mood board or a storyline that involves many cultures and breaks “social norms”. I am willing to take the advice and techniques from my professors and utilize them in my work. Although if I do have differing opinions than my professors, I will communicate with them and collaborate their ideas with mine in order to create a design that is pleasing to both of us.
FIT has an abundance of labs to learn from and to help students develop new ideas. I want to make an impact in the world and develop sustainable fashion that will not only help us, but will help the generations to come. Designers are now making dresses out of bacteria and jackets into tents, and I want to be a part of that revolution; Creating for a world that does not exist yet.
Although this school will challenge me, I am mentally, emotionally, and physically equipt. I am prepared for the assignments that will keep me up through the night, and I am ready for the internships that will take over my days. To some that might seem like a lot, but due to my wonderful organization and time management skills, I will do fine in those challenging
