Golf in the United States is a $76 billion annual industry with 25.7 million players. Thirty-eight percent of Americans call themselves golf fans. The debate over whether or not golf is a sport wages on the internet, in bars, amongst sportswriters, and even on the golf course. Golf is a real sport because the Scottish used to play a game with a sphere of some sort from town to town, they use a court/ track, and golf better meets the definition of sport which is an activity that involves physical exertion and skill in which an individual or a team competes against another or others for entertainment. Many years ago the Scottish played a game similar to golf. They would use sturdy clubs to hit a designated object in the least amount of hits possible. The players usually played from town to town. There was a pre-designated place where the players would hit the object to. It was very similar to golf and involved much skill. The golfers use a track/course as a designated track. In the older days when the Scottish played they had a pre-designated track and terrain that they had to follow. Now you can do up to 18 holes per-game. They swing 30-50 pound clubs as fast as they can which takes a lot of strength if you want to make the ball go as far as possible. The golfers have to walk (unless they have a cart) with their clubs to where their ball landed and to the next hole, which means you have to be willing to walk a good distance. If you are a caddie you have to carry the golfers clubs which are about 30-50 pounds each, so you have to carry about a 300 pound bag and that will burn a lot of calories.
