Imagine a world with too much advertisements. The truth is, you may already be living in it. Sure, advertising may have some benefits for people, but it also has some serious negative effects. Specifically towards children’s safety and health. Marketing companies are spending billions of dollars trying to get kids to buy their merchandise and as more marketing companies get persistent with these ads, the children may be getting harmed in that process. Modern advertisements are starting to play a negative role by targeting children, which in turn hurts their physical health and causes behavioral problems.

Some marketer’s specifically target children when trying to advertise their products. Evidence to support this is in the news article, “Marketing to Kids Gets More Savvy with New Technologies,” when the author writes, “The site does one more thing: It posts ads that …show more content…

That is explained in the article, “Facts About Marketing to Children,” it states, “More than half of the children surveyed said that buying certain products makes them feel better about themselves.” That proves that some kids’ behaviors are changed by certain products and by marketing to children, they will continue to think that they need the products and if they don’t have it, then they might feel bad about their lives. Another piece of evidence is also found in the article, “Facts About Marketing to Children,” when the organization writes, “More than 10 percent of 12- to 13-year-olds admitted to asking their parents more than 50 times for products they have seen advertised.” That evidence shows that some kids will nag their parents a lot for products they see on simple advertisements and it changes their behavior from not nagging to nagging. After reading those examples, you can see that by advertising to children, their behaviors can change negatively and they can develop those behaviors
