You often hear about treating narcissistic personality disorder in adults, and therefore tend to associate narcissistic personality disorder signs with adults. As young as 5 years old, a child can easily develop NPD narcissistic personality disorder symptoms.

Spoiled children overly loved and protected by parents
One common reason why there are more and more narcissistic personality disorder children is because parents are too over protective of their kids. They do not want to hurt their kids, instead they protect them and sometimes, their protection level is way over the limit. Parents always have the tendency to praise their children, especially on their appearances. For example, parents would often say to their girls that she is the most beautiful princess in the entire world. Such a sentence gradually causes the kid to focus on her appearances and sincerely believe that she is the most beautiful girl in the whole wide world.
