Fahrenheit 451
Fahrenheit 451 is set in a dystopian world, where books are illegal. In this world firemen start fires instead of putting them out. They burn books for a living and none of them ever questioned their job. The book focuses only on Guy Montag which is one of the firemen. The people in this world do not read books, enjoy nature, think by themselves, or have meaningful conversations. The people drive fast, watch more than enough tv, and listen to the radio.
Guy Montag really enjoys being a fireman. He enjoys the smell of the books burning and how the fire looks. But one night when he was walking he noticed a girl. He notices that she's different in a way, but he doesn't know how. Her name is Clarisse McClellan, a beautiful young girl. When Montag started to steal the books he felt guilty. It was easy for him, it was like his hands had a mind of their own. He felt ugly about stealing subconsciously. He felt like his hands had poison. He used “poison” to describe his guiltiness. When Montag was at the fire station and started to watch his hands. He was trying to clean his hands of the guilt. Most people after their first time stealing will feel the same as Montag and feel like their hands are “poisoned” and/or “dirty”.
