The book I am reading is called Fahrenheit 451 and it is a Science Fiction novel by the infamous author Ray Bradbury. This novel is set in a picture “perfect” parlor family world in the 1950s and is supposed to be a dystopian future where everything seems fine and perfect but it isn’t. It is supposed to seem like a utopian future but that idea is clearly discarded due to the fact that firemen do not put out fires anymore instead they burn books. The reason they burn books is because they cause ideas that could be happy but they could also be violent or rage a person so books are burned to “save” Mankind. The Main character is an employee or firefighter of the fire department named Guy Montag and he is a very curious and complex character that …show more content…
He would use a lot of repetitive tactics to make the situation feel really tense and dramatic. Like on page 52 when Captain Beatty was checking up on Montag while he was sick Mildred was looking around and almost revealed that Montag was hiding a book. Of course the situation was very tense anyways but Bradbury included in which when Beatty showed him a clip and I quote the paragraph says “Click, pic, eye , now, flick, here, there, swift, pace, up, down, in, out, why, how, who, what, where, eh?” It shows that the situation is very fast paced and dramatic and it leaves you on the edge of your feet. When you are reading you are reading so fast so that is one of the main parts of the Author’s Voice and Style. Another type of style he uses is a lot of similes like on pages 4 and 6 he uses the houses and the grass and says that the cars are moving so fast that white blurs are houses and green blurs are grass. Also on page 6 it Montag says “ kerosene is nothing but perfume to me”, it just shows how creative Bradbury is at comparing two completely different things like kerosene and …show more content…
No books equals no creativity and if you keep creativity locked up for so long you create monsters. The Book ends with Montag running away towards the city with Scholars that are too breaking free from the chains, and it just shows how mens creativity and passion can not be held in. At the End Montag recites a verse from the bible on page 158 he says “On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nation's.” This shows that Montag had finally remembered things from books and now he was ready to head to the city and share his information. This novel left me pondering a lot of questions and requests. I would most certainly recommend this book to anyone who likes anything because this book is for all people of any age about middle school and up. Some questions I still ask is “If books are banned because they make people feel too many emotions then is the ability to tell stories illegal?” Another question I have is “What Happened to Clarisse after she died?” And my final request is to make a sequel. The Book ended with Guy Montag running to the city for shelter and to regain to a golden age so why can’t there be a sequel about what he does in the city. And Finally if you read this book you would understand that
