Fahrenheit 451 is a monomyth story with underlying lessons. At the center of this utopian masterpiece is Guy Montag: the firefighter. Instead of putting out fires, he creates them. But this physical fire isn’t the only fire burning, a fire burns within Montag. A flaming desire for change in his life. Montag is first introduced as an obedient, hard-working, model citizen. He does what he’s told and doesn’t create any problems. Free thinking is not a value in his society, so Montag bends his human will to fit in. Clarisse, Montag’s Neighbor, disrupts this mindset.
