Fahrenheit 451 is a book about a dystopia where everyone agrees on everything and never question what happens around them. Ray Bradbury the author of the book has an excellent background and the origin of the story and why in particular did he choose this subject. Bradbury adds alienation into his story to give a visual representation of how outcast are treated and how the government will hide the truth.

“He imagined thousands on thousands of faces peering into yards, into alleys, and into the sky, faces hid by curtains, pale, night-frightened faces.” represents how some people hid for safety (Fahrenheit 451). A man named Truman Capote rescued Bradbury’s short story from the slush pile and helped get it published afterwards. “Homecoming” later won an award in the O. Henry Prize stories in the year of 1947. Ray Bradbury later met his wife Marguerite Mcclure in the pervious April at a Fowler Brothers Bookstore. Marguerite worked at the Fowler Brothers Bookstore were she spotted Bradbury and first assumed he was a shoplifter. Raising a family with two kids made it hard for Bradbury to have enough money for an office. One day Bradbury was wondering around the UCLA library, where he discover he can rent a typewriter for ten cents for a half-hour. He went home and got a bag of dimes and that day he began to write his novel, “Fahrenheit 451”. “ But my God, what a place to write that book!” and shows us that the library was the best place to write his book.” ( Ray Bradbury NEA). Bradbury enjoyed writing is book in the library, hed walk up and down the stairs, grabbing books, looking for quotes to add in his book, and ran back down to put it in his book. Ray Bradbury took nine days to write Fahrenheit 451. Reporter Dana Gioia had a interview with Ray Bradbury. Dana asked questions like what do you think the turning point of the book is? Also if you got to pick one book to memorize what book would it be? Why should people read novels? Bradbury believed that the turning point of the book is when Mrs. Hudson was willing to die for the one she loves like her cats, dogs, and her books.
