The Phases Through Life
Everyone experiences the world differently. Of course, we can all identify the same objects, colors, and things, but what these items mean to each person is unique. A lot of this has to do with one’s surrounding environment. In Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451, the character Guy Montag is a conforming firefighter in a futuristic society who eventually turns into a rebel. Montag realizes this transformation provides knowledge and some freedom in this society, so he chooses to remain a conformist, but also a rebel.
Montag is a conforming firefighter as the story begins, but he then realizes that he is fighting these ways. When he begins to question conformity, he realizes this rebellion provides a clearer view of the world. The opening sentence immediately

Montag identifies being challenged between conforming and rebellion. This quote reads "We need not to be let alone. We need to be bothered once in a while. How long has it been since you were bothered? About something important, about something real?" (51) Individuals should be bothered every once in a while to promote critical thinking. It’s a good idea to see both sides. Montag becomes friends with professor Faber who he meets in the park. "We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed.” (71) This statement identifies the patience in friends. It means that true friendship is formed over time. Montag shows it’s important to understand words and ideas. "I don't talk about things, sir. I will talk about the meaning of things." (83) Leads to deeper meaning and convoration about what is surrounding you. Its a connection with other individuals. Montag's words show how he transformed from a conformist firefighter who simply follows orders to a rebel who questions the world around him and seeks deeper
