Society has always looked for the next best thing, the new shiny toy. Fahrenheit 451 shows that society is beginning to see an illusion of happiness as focusing on entertainment, immediate satisfaction, and speeding through life too quickly to comprehend their surroundings and the lives of others. In the first part of “Fahrenheit 451” Guy Montag meets his energetic neighbor Clarisse, who sees their world in a different way, “I rarely watch the ‘parlor walls’ or go to races or Fun Parks.
