Censorship Hurts overall life because it removes the right to freedom of speech. Censorship makes a large part of the population not be able to think for themselves. This causes life to become bland and everyone becomes the same. Censorship hurts society because it contradicts freedom of speech. Free expression is a universal human right in most parts of the world as shown in the index on censorship “Free expression is a universal human right enriched in article 19”. People will talk, but they will not talk about anything new, just stuff that is already known because they are afraid to be affected by censorship. This is shown in Fahrenheit 451 when they say “People don’t talk about anything.no, not anything”. They name a lot of cars or clothes or swimming pools mostly and say how swell! But they all say the same thing and nobody says anything different from anyone else”. This is also backed up by another quote from Fahrenheit 451 when it states “I don't talk about things. I talk about the meaning of things. I sit here and know I'm alive.” This shows people don't talk how we talk now and they lost their purpose in speaking because of censorship. We can all agree that censorship is a terrible thing that should not be used as proven above, but censorship is needed to a certain extent. Sometimes people can have too much freedom and they start talking about things that shouldn't be said out loud. Censorship is useful when you are trying to hide information from enemies and other people. Censorship can create a safer environment for citizens.
