There are a five parts of narrative structure. They are the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and the resolution. During the exposition you are learning about characters and all the beginning information of the story. During the exposition of Fahrenheit 451, you meet Guy Montag and learn about his position in the fire department. One day after leaving his job, you meet Clarisse. Clarisse is the young girl who makes Montag question why it is that he burns books without any hesitation. Clarisse is a girl who actually thinks about things instead of just going on wither day by day as usual like the people do. Instead of going to work, Montag stays home and he and Mildred argue about the books. He takes the books out and starts to read them. While he is home, Captain Beatty comes over. This really starts the climax. While Beatty is there, Mildred first discovers that Montag even has any books. She does this while he is lying in bed and she feels it under his pillow. The whole time Beatty is there you’re wondering and waiting for the Captain to find the book because they are talking about books and what happens to a firefighter who has books. After going back to work, a call goes out to set a house a blaze. Once getting there, Montag realizes it is his house. This is where the book gets the most interesting because you realize that Beatty knows about all of Montag’s books and that this is the turning point of not only the book but Montag’s career. This is the start of where Montag is no longer a firefighter, he is one of the citizens who disobeys the laws of the land. With the conflicts that arise, Montag goes from firefighter to unruly citizen to murder when he kills Beatty. The climax ends with Montag running from the police and from the Mechanical
