There are four components to a nursing metaparadigm; nursing, person, health, and environment. Identifying these factors in the McCormack and McCance’s Person-Centered Care Nursing framework allows for nurses to incorporate this theory into practice. Corresponding to the definitions in the lesson, I feel that this particular model includes all four elements of the nursing metaparadigm. Prerequisite being the nurse. Care environment comparable to environment. Person-Centered care equaling the person. And in my opinion, outcomes would be comparable to health. In my specific setting as a Family Nurse Practitioner, recognizing and understanding these core attributes can help me evaluate my personal quality of care provided. An example of how this theory can improve my actually nursing practice, is simple. Always be sure to make the needs of the patient first and a priority. Create therapeutic relationships and environments that promotes and enhances healing. The number one complaint I get from patients in our clinic is that the provider doesn’t listen to their needs. By practicing the concepts of this theory, I plan to exercise active listening. The McCormack and McCance Person-Centered Care Nursing Framework is an amazing tool that any nurse can utilize no matter the role they hold in health
