Her wish mostly came true. She is remembered by her very detailed description of how life was during World War 2. She is also known for her most famous quote “I keep my ideals, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart” – Anne Frank. Anne was the type of person who lit up a room when she walked in. She had a bright young mind.
In contrast to the Wakatsuki’s, the Frank family was put in a life or death situation. They were targeted by the German Nazi Party in which discriminated all Jews. Unlike Jeanne Wakatsuki, Anne’s family had a smaller area to work with and could not step foot out of the door. She attempts to put the situation in her own words. As stated in The Diary of a Young Girl, “I see the eight of us in the Annex as if we were a patch of blue sky surrounded by menacing black clouds.
Frank’s father had no self-control when it came to alcohol and that addiction made life so much harder for Frank and his family because they depended on his income but he constantly would drink than bring food for his family. This left the family to starve for days and have money for rent. Repetition impacts the purpose of the book because it emphasizes horrible events that happened in Frank's life as a child growing up and showing lower class struggles throughout the
During World War II, the German Reich marched across the entire continent of Europe. During the Holocaust, many people became discouraged and lost hope in the future of society. However, the excerpts from “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl,” written by herself, and “Hitler Youth: Growing up in Hitler’s Shadow” by Susan Campbell Bartoletti, prove that being positive and persevering is the best thing that someone can do. Whether hiding from the Nazis or already taken by them, the best response to have during conflict and chaos is maintaining a positive outlook on life and to persist through difficult times.
Anne also had a very hopeful spirit when having one of her “dates” with peter in his room. They got to talking about what they used to do in there every day life’s before the war had stared and they had lived in the annex , and what they wanted to do when they got out and the war ended. Anne said she would love to become a journalist because of her

The memoir begins with Frank, the author and narrator, looking back at the choice his parents made with regret. He believes they should never leave New York . He describes the way his parents met and how they now have five children. Their little sister Margaret dies and affects Frank’s parents extremely. With both parents neglecting the four other children, the friends and few relatives of the McCourts decide that they should return to their original country for the best.
Because Frank’s father was not able to provide for his family, they had to live in constant hunger while living in unsanitary conditions. Despite all of the anxiety that Frank’s father has cost his family, Frank still loves his father and tries to see the best in him; he constantly remembers him as the man that would share stories with him instead of the man that would spend all of his earnings at the local pub (Gale). Frank realizes at a young age that his father is not someone he can depend on and he finally realizes how selfish his father truly is when he drinks his new sibling’s baby money(Shannon). Although the family faces many obstacles, they are able to overcome them through their love for each other. Frank’s mother, Angela, does whatever she can to make ends meet for her family because she knows she has no one she can depend on.
The story shows the reader how the determination of the family living in terrible conditions was able to overcome conflicts in order to make their lives better. Most of the time the story is depressing, but it’s certainly is not. In the beginning Frank was a child of innocence. Frank was describing his life events without bitterness, hatred, or blame. The Hardships the family faces are treated as if it was normal, despite these conflicts, most of the text is filled with hilarious quotes that distract the reader from the depressing side of the story.
Those people that did not help their problem, but the ones that did show those characteristics helped their problem in more ways than they knew it. The Diary of Anne Frank is about a young jewish girl named Anne Frank, who has to go into hiding with her family in order to not get caught and taken away by the Nazis in Amsterdam, and while in hiding, records her experiences and thoughts into her diary. Farewell to Manzanar is a book based on a girl named Jeanne Wakatsuki who is seven years old at the time, and gets taken away with her family to Manzanar encampments, as the U.S. government doesn’t want to risk any Japanese Americans possibly giving up information to the Japanese as they are at war with them. Anne Frank and Jeanne Wakatsuki have many similarities and differences throughout their lifetimes on the run from the war.

The most important thing that the Franks and Van Daans went through was a time of fear. No matter how much happiness came through in their lives they always had fear jumbled up inside their heads. As the Frank family and the Van Daans were cooped up in the annex- the place of hiding they were practiclly shocked and very fearful of the Nazi’s. Being fearful was something that came upon them and was totally normal for a person to have like the Franks and Van Daans, because everyone is fearful no matter what type of predicament their trapped in.
