Fantastical and captivating musical masterpieces enhance the experiences felt in movies and theater plays. These musical classics build up the emotion and tension of the powerful scenes we know today. From Jaws’ ominous song of the approaching shark, to Darth Vader’s thunderous imperial orchestra, each piece of music helps the audience better understand and grasp the emotions. I have attempted to transform famous emotional songs into leitmotifs. Here are ten examples of musical works incorporated into the novel Night by Elie Weisel. To begin, the first leitmotif is the peaceful melody from Brahms Lullaby. This calm music brings out the airiness and bliss of the Sighet town before the Nazi’s arrival. I imagine the beats to this tune, match the punches and slaps of Weisel’s father. Following Tybalt’s Death is Triumphant Return by Alan Silveststri from the movie Captain America. This song matches the scene of the first bombing of the encampment. Weisel describes his feelings as hopeful as the buildings burn to the ground. This lyrical piece of music helps bring out the feelings of hope and pride of Captain America’s feelings that are similar to those of Weisel’s. After Triumphant Return plays the defeated and broken melody from Discovery of the Camp by Band of Brothers musicians. Discovery of the Camp emotions match those from the scene of the Jewish New Year. At this stage, the prisoners feel hopeless, thinking God has left them in their misery (especially, Weasel and his father). The purpose of this song is to bring out the darkness as it did in the series Band of Brothers when the soldiers found a Nazi concentration camp full of depraved, lifeless people. The eighth leitmotif is the famous song Remember Me from the Disney movie Coco. This music overflows with grief and sorrow. The heartache from this song in its instrumental version brings out the raw emotion of Weisel’s father’s
