It is criticizing fast food for unhealthy food choices in America, and the tradition of eating fast food is causing long term damage and can risk lives. Spurlock puts himself in the spot by eating only McDonald’s for 30 days to examine what affects his health can have by this. There has been a major increase in the percentage and the highest percentage is in Mississippi which is 25%.This means that 1 out of 4 people are obese. The statistics were shown to provide credibility. He knew it will make him look knowledgeable in the eyes of viewers. This is a logical appeal that he used to persuade the audience. Another way he appeals to viewers is by stopping people walking on the sidewalks of New York, asking them how much they consume fast food. He stopped a man who was obese and asked him how much he consumes fast food; he replied, “four to five times in a week” and added that Taco Bell and McDonalds were his favorites (Supersize Me). The fact that Spurlock is against fast food consumption in terms of healthy is logic knowing that people are already well aware of the damages it causes. This resulted in him performing this experiment on himself to provide his life experience as a credible source for people all over United States to see. He also started the argument with a very sarcastic tone, “America has big houses, big cars, big organizations and big people, congratulations”.
