In every instance of the play we look at, fate guides them together no matter what. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, both characters ended up falling into fate. They were going to keep seeing each other so Juliet's parents would have killed Romeo. It was not free will because they couldn’t resist each other. When Romeo killed himself it led Juliet to no other choice but to end it all. Romeo kills himself because he thinks Juliet is dead, even though she is alive. Fate got to him and killed him. Ever since they started talking because their families are enemies.This quote from the book explains the foreshadowing of their death. It also explains how fate got the best of them. “For the next two hours, we will watch the story of their doomed love and their parents' anger, which nothing but the children's deaths could stop.” (Shakespeare Prologue 3). This quote is relevant because the children couldn’t stop their death due to fate. Fate ultimately killed them and ended the legacy of the two lovers. It is valuable because on the topic of death it also explains how fate killed off them. Something they couldn’t stop. Death was something said many times by Romeo and Juliet. Both families were enemies and they weren’t allowed to be with each other so the reader could see it coming.“In their lovemaking, for example, Romeo and Juliet repeatedly fantasize that deathlike self-effacement can lead to apotheosis.” (Farrell, Kirby). Shakespeare foreshadows the death amongst the two youngins. At the climax of the book it all went downhill. It started off with Romeo finding out the bad news, then killing himself over a still alive Juliet. Then Juliet kills herself over a completely dead Romeo. This quote proves my point because it foreshadows the fate both characters will end up. This all shows how Shakespeare foreshadows fate and death.
