In “The Tragedy of Romeo & Juliet”, the reader follows the story of two star-crossed lovers and how they fight through the challenges they face for the sake of love. Although there are many different theories as far as who was responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, fate played a significant role in the unravelling of the events that ultimately lead up to their final demise. One of the first examples of fate in Romeo and Juliet is when Romeo and Peter, Capulet’s ignorant servant, meet. Romeo is strolling down the streets of Verona with Mercutio in tow when he is stopped by Peter who requests that he read the guest list for Capulet’s feast.
