Father and Son Relationships “Fences” is a 1985 publication by August Wilson that tells the story of an African American male called Troy trying to break racial barriers. Troy is relatively old, but he is still caught up in the past. The play is set in the 1950’s when race relations between the African Americans and the majority Whites was sour. Even though things were slowly improving, Troy did not believe that the relations between Whites and Blacks would ever improve. Many Negroes were still playing in the national leagues but this was not enough to convince Troy and other African Americans (Wilson 12). On the other hand, Arthur’s Miller “Death of a Salesman” is a play set up in the 1940’s in New York and Boston. The central character in
