When it comes to father roles in ‘to kill a mockingbird’, the most prominent example is the Atticus finch. In the book, Atticus is a committed father and we can see that throughout the book with how his kids respond to certain situations. Another reason I chose this topic is because we can see the variety of ages, genders and living situations in this book and how fathers impact the development of these characters. In this chapter it shows me that Atticus fully takes on and prides himself in the role of protector. Mostly in chapter 11 we see him as a mental protector, as you wouldn't tell a child that they are helping an agitated person through withdrawals. In chapter 15 we see him as a more physical protector when he keeps encouraging Jem to take himself and scout home to get away from the lynch mob.
