To a boy, a father is a role model who he strives to be like one day. Fathers are influential figures in the eyes of their sons.Therefore, the way a father thinks and parents has a strong influence over their child. Because of this, certain aspects such as strengths, weaknesses, successes, and mistakes of fathers may greatly affect the life of their sons. The events of the novel, The Kite Runner, illustrate how several pairs of father and son interact and how they affect each other’s lives. Although many factors are important to the life of a child, the most important matter to a son is his father’s love.

Rahim Khan understood Amir, but he also understood Baba. “Children aren’t coloring books. You don’t get to fill them with your favorite colors” (Hosseini 21). Rahim Khan saw that Baba was trying to make Amir somebody that he wants him to be, but Rahim Khan advised him to let Amir find his way.
