The speech was a gleam of hope for the American people that were previously thinking that it was the end and they could never be in the same prosperity that they were in the 1920´s. And I enjoy the statements FDR made and compared them to real-life examples. It probably made it easier to understand for the mass of the people of the United States. And that he wasn't sugar coating what was happening. He was telling how it was and how to fix it.
Before FDR was president the country was in the stages of The Great depression, it was a time of economic downfall for the American people. A deflation of general income caused it. Roosevelt gave his inaugural March 4, 1933. In his speech, he could use strongly worded phrases to uplift the people who listened that thought they were at their wits' end. For example, phrases like “The people of the United States have not failed” and “I am prepared under my constitutional duty to recommend the measures that a stricken Nation amid a stricken world may require”. I believe that these phrases and many others touched citizens to not just give up and hope for a better future. The speech is basically explaining that he knows how he can solve the problem and how he has the power to do it. This speech compared to recent speeches by so-called politicians or influencers are not very good. Instead of trying to uplift everybody they are bashing someone they do not agree with and the one thing that really puts a bad taste in my mouth is when they are just speaking based on opinions and not based on facts. To try and fix the great depression he introduced the New Deal which would create government jobs. These jobs were introduced by what people called alphabet agencies. In these agencies they would build dams, roads, clear brush, help negate water or prevent flooding in certain
