Fear is a reasonable response when it comes to the development and nature of technology. Fear of the unknown and how it impacts our roles in society can trigger legitimate anxieties; humans often converge around massive technological shifts with a flurry of anxieties. People typically express the highest level of fear for the things they are dependent on, but that they don’t have any control over. This idea virtually represents a perfect definition of technology. Frankenstein and Ex Machina create fear in our society based off of the preconceptions of our interactions with technology.
