When regarding the components of a Shakespearean tragedy, there are certain attributes of the protagonist that must be duly noted for the sake of exposing their unique qualities. William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, offers the protagonist a role that brings to light their qualities through the process of feigning madness. With regards to the necessity of feigning madness, it is proven a wise choice for Shakespeare as it permits dynamic alterations that support the protagonist’s appeal. As for the Hamlet and his intention to feign his madness for the sake of claiming victory over king of Denmark, it is also deemed a necessity as it portrays himself as a deviant figure of authority.
