Temptation is dangerous and many people experience this in their lives, while few are able to resist temptation, others are taken over by the influential power it possess. The power of temptation causes one to oversee and be consumed by evil because like addiction, it exerts a long and powerful influence over one. When taken over by temptation, one craves for the object that they are addicted to, they can lose control over it’s power, and one can continue its involvement with it, despite adverse consequences. When one takes a drug for the first time and they enjoy, their brain secretes large amounts of dopamine “As a person continues to use drugs, the brain adjusts to the excess dopamine by making less of it and/or reducing the ability of cells in the reward circuit to respond to it.” (National Institute on Drug Abuse). People that are strong minded and confident are not likely to fall into temptation. They do not let the urges control they way in which they perceive good and evil and have the ability to see both sides of a situation. Many struggle with temptation although “Overcoming it is hard; it’s a constant battle. But whether I succeed or fail, God still loves me. When I forget that amazing fact, overcoming temptation is harder and often impossible” (Brown). People can resist temptation and avoid the overall negative affects of addiction by having a set mind set. Religion is an escape and a way to feel safe through many people’s eyes and it very much help one to stay away from substance abuse. The temptation does not control them and blind them to the evil that an object or action possess because they make decisions on their own without addiction regulation their actions.
