Female Athletes Equality Women have made major strides in their equality throughout the years. They’ve changed society for the good, and continue to fight for their equality. Their accomplishments prove that professional female athletes deserve equal pay as professional male athletes. Statistics show that professional female athletes are paid up to 40% less than male athletes. This is a worldwide issue that females continue to fight for until peace is made. Professional female athletes should be paid an equal amount to male athletes because sport fanatics enjoy watching females just as much as males, they work just as hard as males, and females have made big advancements through the years in equality. Although, men’s bodies are made stronger than females, so technically females have to work harder to perform at the same level males could do regularly. Another substantially large difference between the sexes is the effect athletic training has on female and male bodies. Due to the differences in sex hormones, male athletes have a greater response to training stimuli, such as weight training and strength and conditioning, compared to female athletes. Females have to do more to achieve what men can do on a light day. They’re also are at a higher risk in injury compared to males, which demonstrates their work ethic and worthiness for equal pay. To add, when playing their sport, females give their full potential, and males give their full potential, which demonstrates that women don’t try any less than the males do. Finally, female athletes deserve to get equal pay because they have made big advancements through the years in equality. For instance, women have managed to get allowed in the war, the ability to vote, etc. Why should people stop at this issue on equal pay after all of those essential accomplishments? Like as, women have fought for their equality to get the right to vote in 1920. They’ve accomplished all of these things, and it proves that they are strong females that are capable of doing what was once an men’s job, such as being in the war. Besides, women have gotten past the inequality, and proved that they’re capable of doing just as well. So why is this any different with sports and equal pay? For example, say females got paid less than males for being in the army; doing the same things, trying just as hard, risking their life, and not getting paid the same amount.
