One encounter that influenced my perspective of the world was being a female military brat.
It allowed me to explore the different diversities among other people in a variety of states. It also contributed to helping me adapt in different schools. Most of all it opened my views on other military kids in the world that go through similar situations that I’ve experienced. I realize that I’m not the only one facing this subject. I felt a disadvantage at first but realized some people have never been outside of their state. They either didn’t get the opportunity or don’t have the funds to travel. Going from state to state every couple of years was tiring because my family and I had to go through the packing and moving process so often. However, It was inspirational for me to get educated and get involved in a new environment. It wasn’t a guarantee on liking the new location but I had to adapt. When I went to my new school, I had to make new associates as well as build up my good character, since the teachers didn’t have an idea on whether I was the good or bad student in their class. The military put him where they see fit and for me this was also a narrow choice to make; either go with my father and travel the world or stay with the rest of the family in my homeland. Not an easy decision to comply. Even though, I’ve decided to stay in the United States I have a changed mindset. I would like to travel to another country or study abroad when I’m in college. With being around a military dad for so long, I got to observe first hand the kind of job he does as an NCO ( non-commissioned officer) in the Air Force.
