March 23, 2016 Female Spies in World War II Females were not respected during World War II but they were very successful. The use of spies grew drastically during this war because it was a great tactic for warfare. Many women got involved because women were not allowed in combat, and it was hard for females to find any sort of job in war, so women became spies to be part of the warfare. Female spies were not allowed in combat, so a spy was the perfect fit for women who wanted to be in the warfare, and they ended up being very successful. Military units would not expect a female to be working in the warfare. They were less suspicious just because they were women, and that made it easier for them to break codes and retrieve information. Many females started this crucial job because they knew different languages, this was a large advantage to have as a spy because there were different languages involved in the war. One British organization that first started using female spies was the Special operations Executive. The females worked with men to learn techniques of killing and sabotage. The SOE organization was separated into the different country sections to stay organized.

They used combustible notebooks, a message was written on the paper and after reading it with a touch of a certain pen they destroyed the message to prevent people from reading secret messages. There was a tactic called the "jack in the box", this was when there was a suitcase outside of the car and to escape surveillance the agent was replaced by a pseudo person and then the agent was able to open "jack in the box". These tactics were created throughout the war, as the war went on people caught on to some of the tactics, but that did not stop spies they formed more new and improved techniques throughout the
