Feminist Movement: Free The Nipple

Feminism is a movement that has helped change the world, without it women wouldn’t have the right to vote, have equal pay in the workplace, or even go to college as a part of a normal plan for women. There is now a feminist movement called “Free the Nipple”, this movement is trying to desexualize a woman’s breast. I am in agreeance with the group in wanting women to have equal rights with men, but I do not agree with trying to be able to show a woman’s breast in public because a man can. Many of these so called “feminists” are trying to get equality, but in my own opinion they are being too extreme in their endeavors and their mission. “Free the Nipple” is a group that is dedicated to trying to get the sexualized feeling associated with a woman’s breast to stop so that a woman is able to have their shirts off like a man. They recently had a protest and in this protest the group had a bunch of women come and put black tape over their nipples and walk around New York City. They did this to show solidarity in saying they want equality among men and women with their chest. These women are trying hard to get the laws changed about women’s public nudity, they want to institute nude beaches in the U.S. and make it acceptable to show breasts and nipples on social media. Breastfeeding is a natural occurrence and I think that because it is a natural process women can do it in public, but I think that they should cover themselves. I know that when I go out to eat or go see a movie that I don’t want to see what a mother is doing to feed her child. Breastfeeding is such an intimate experience between a mother and child that I wouldn’t want anyone in public to see. Breasts should be used for their natural intentions and that’s it, breasts don’t need to be shown all over and people don’t need gawk over something on a woman’s
