In the play Fences by August Wilson Troy Maxson uses his authority for being Cory's parent by making the decisions he makes for Cory to protect him because Troy believes he knows what’s best for him and when Troy feels like Cory isn't treating Troy the way he thinks he should be treated then Troy sees that as an Unjustice and reacts to it by using the three strikes and you’re out method because Troy sees life as a baseball game. “Justice is paying one's debts and giving to each his or her due” (Solomon, 21). And the actions Troy took in the play is done because as a father Troy is gonna do the best he can to take care of his family and his family should pay his debts and dues by obeying and respecting his decisions he makes for him and his family. For example when Cory came and told Troy about him quitting his job to play baseball and Troy told him to quit baseball and get his job back but Cory didn't listen because he really liked playing. Troy did this because Cory went against his wishes and orders and continued to play so Troy warns him that that was his first strike. Troy had been cheating on his wife Rose and one day decides to tell her and them two get into an argument and Troy ends up grabbing Rose by the arm and Cory sees that and tries to go help his mother by coming up from behind of Tory and grabbing him. They end up fighting and their goes strike two for Cory. Troy feels it’s time for Cory to move out and provide for himself and because of this Cory starts an argument between him and Troy and the house he is getting kicked out off isn't even Troy's house because it’s not his money that was or is paying for the house.
