Li Xiu Ying was the few survivors during the cause of Nanking Massacre on December 1937. She was stabbed 37 times, and miraculously survived, becoming the most powerful witness of that tragic history. Li Xiu Ying has been using her personal experience to expose the atrocities of those Japanese invaders. She was 19 years old and seven month pregnant when the attack happened, causing her to not be able to flee, so she together with her father hid in the Nanking International Safety Zone which is under the Mountain Elementary School. But the Japanese Soldiers broke in and attempts to rape her, and while fighting back, she was stabbed, and after those soldier left, her father managed to send her to the Nanking Golou Hospital.

The Emperor should take a militaristic approach with Xiongnu because it is very costly to keep the tribute system going and our tributes may empower them, the Han should attack while they are still bigger than the Xiongnu, the Xiongnu also already proved themselves untrustworthy. As chief foreign policy adviser to the illustrious Emperor of the Middle Kingdom, I humbly recommend that the Emperor should instead take a militaristic approach because it will be very costly to continue sending tributes every year, if continued with diplomatic approach the Xiongnu could grow bigger than us and take over. For the past 50 years I have been keeping track of the price for the tributes we send to the Xiongnu, the cost rises every couple of years, we should have stopped sending tributes after they invaded us in 166 BCE, we never know when the Xiongnu will stop wanting our tributes. The cost of sending tributes to the Xiongnu rises every couple of years.
The two-part documentary, Gate of Heavenly Peace: The Tiananmen Square Protests, provides an overview of the events leading up to and during the Tiananmen Square protests during the spring of 1989. In my opinion the documentary accurately explains the issues that drove the students and citizens of China to march to the square and remain there for approximately two months. The protests were sparked by the death of Hu Yaobang on April 15th 1989, who favored political liberalization and advocated for dialogue with the demonstrators (LO #4, pp. 1). The Tang state in China began after the downfall of the Sui Dynasty, it began in 618 CE and ended in 907 CE and was much more durable than the previous dynasty. (333) This state paralleled the Islam spread out of Arabia and through Afro-Eurasia, this created two center landmasses, one being Islam and the other being power and wealth. (133) As the state began its creation it had territorial expansion and development of an army. In order to expand the territory, Tang rulers had to ensure they restored the building of the empire.
The barbarian force of the Mongols caused issues that were significant to China which made the most impact on the Chinese culture in a wall being built. This wall is known as the Great Wall of China. The wall contained a sense of nationalism to protect the nation and liberalism to keep people in and not letting Chinese civilians leave. Nationalism can best be described as the support and one's value of their own country is preserved. Liberalism is the act of liberal perspectives being perpetuated.
Student protests/Tiananmen square Tiananmen square is a large public area in Beijing, China. The square is named after its “Gate of Heavenly Peace, the National Museum of China, and the Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall.” (Encyclopedia) Mao Zedong used the square on October 1, 1949 to declare the founding of the People’s Republic, an anniversary still celebrated at the square. Due to the square’s importance, Chinese students began protesting in favor of democratic reform, a demonstration that began in April 1989. The protest was sparked due to unrest at the Communist Party after the death of Chairman Hu Yaobang.
China’s healthcare has been through a roller coaster of reform, impacting the health of every citizen throughout history. The country has endured many impactful changes with the large shifts in power, eventually leading to its current healthcare system today. The Cultural Revolution of China was a starting point, with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) taking power in 1949. The CCP implemented a health system reflecting the Marxist communist ideology. The Tiananmen Square protests, commonly known in Chinese as the June Fourth Incident (六四事件)[a] were student-led demonstrations in Beijing in 1989. More broadly, it refers to the popular national movement inspired by the Beijing protests during that period, sometimes referred to as the '89 Democracy Movement (八九民运). The protests were forcibly suppressed after the government declared martial law. In what became widely known as the Tiananmen Square Massacre, troops with assault rifles and tanks killed at least several hundred student demonstrators trying to block the military's advance towards Tiananmen Square. The number of civilian deaths has been estimated at anywhere between the hundreds to the thousands.
Both Confucian and Western societies have recognized the need to select intellectual for making decisions in government. In Western countries, politicians should be broad-minded in order to spot new trends, adapt to new situation in a rapidly changing world, consider long-term consequences and protect unpopular individuals and minorities. In Confucian societies, decision-making power should be placed into the hands of elites which can help develop knowledge-based societies (Bell, 2009). Meritocratic tradition, a political selection process can be compatible with democracy. It has long been present in examination system and the censorial system in China.
` A key feature of capitalistic ideology is the promotion of individualism, that is, the principle that individual effort is rewarded and benefits the individual. In contrast, a key feature of socialist ideology is the promotion of the good of the collective over the individual. China has been a socialist nation since the latter half of the 20th century. Yet, the last 20 years have brought extensive economic reforms that have transformed the country into a pseudo-capitalist market economy. Has this economic transformation been mirrored by an ideological one?
