I read the book Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson. This story is about a girl named Mattie who lives with her mother and grandfather. In their house they run a coffee shop that they all work at, Eliza is a women that is a good friend of the family who works at the shop and cleans the house. Everything is going good until the yellow fever comes to the little town they live in. Hundreds of people were dying every day. The church bell would ring every time another person died from yellow fever. Very soon Mattie’s mother falls ill and a doctor comes by to take care of her. But the doctor says that it’s not yellow fever and that she would be well in no time as long as she cared for properly. But Eliza insists that they go because she wants them to be safe and she can care for her mother by herself. So Mattie and her grandfather get in a wagon with another man who is going to a different town to be safe from the fever. But when they arrive at the gates of the new town grandfather starts coughing really bad and the guards at the gate will not let the enter because he might have the fever. So the man driving kicks Mattie and her Grandfather out of the wagon and they go into town. So Mattie and her grandfather start walking and soon they find a big tree to rest at. Grandfather falls asleep but mattie goes to get water. When she returns she falls asleep and dreams about her grandfather fighting in the war.When Mattie wakes up she is in the hospital. She asks a nurse how she got there and the woman said she was found ill and brought to the hospital, she got yellow fever but soon recovered. So Mattie and her grandfather return to their house but no one is there and windows were smashed and all there food was stolen. Mattie’s mother was not
