In “I have a Dream” by Martin luther king Jr is the most compelling speech because he uses figurative language to make a connection with people to make them listen to him.
Martin luther king Jr having a dream is one of the main ideas;the figurative language that he uses in this is repetition and diction .We know this because of him using repetitiveness saying “I have a dream”(King,1) to make a connection with the people to follow their dreams.”One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippling…” (king,1)Martin luther king Jr tried to fix that for the African Americans for them to be equal and to be happy. is agreeing that both white and African American people should have the same rights(and other races); he communicates this idea through similes and connotation.”This note will promise that all men,yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the “Unalienable Rights” of “Life Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” (King, 1) This quote has a connection from the constitution and him saying we should pursue that from the constitution and follow the rules of it.Martin used a simile to compare two different types of people at the time to have the same equality.”There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights.”(king,2).This means he is not going to give up until African Americans get their rights. This uses Connotation and he is meaning to say this that they will not give up until he get African Americans the freedom they deserve.”We cannot walk alone”(king,2) this is his way of saying that we have to work together to get our freedom we can’t be alone. This helps Martin Luther King by getting a better connection for him to be side to side with him and help him make that change because he knows he can’t do it
