Colour can be an extremely useful tool in film making. Certain hues can make us feel different emotions such as loneliness or remind us of love. Directors use colour to help set a tone, mood and feeling for a scene.

Red can portray passion, love, desire and danger
Pink is feminine, sweet, innocent or playful
Orange is exotic, friendly, warm and optimistic
Yellow is naïve, mad obsessive and youthful
Green is nature, evil, envious and lush
Blue is cold, isolated, calm and cerebral
Purple is fantasy, ethereal, mystic and erotic

Personal Opinion

During events such as weddings and performances, One can find it difficult to set the color on et without the need of colour grading in post.

Every cinematographer has his/her own ways and means to grade a project. When i grade my fooatge I use Premiere Pro and play around with some brightness and contrast to fix some lighting problems while filming than I play around with curves and color tones to change the color of the image and set a partoicular feel.

I personally think that when one is being taught how to edit or he is learning by himself, one has to also atleast know the basics of colour grading. It's an important tool that helps portray the message the cinematographer or director wants to give. I once was editing a wedding showreel of some
