The Real Trinity One film that has a unique connection with "otherness", race, and sex is the film Blade: Trinity. With its three main characters Blade, Hannibal, and Abigail. Otherness comes from when a character is set apart due to being different in some fundamental way. Blade: Trinity is a film set in a world where vampires and hunters fight a war with humans staying ignorant to what is happening. Blade is an African American vampire hunter who was born half human and half vampire, never really belonging to wither world. Abigail Whistler is the illegitimate daughter of Blades friend, trained since she was young to fight and kill vampires. Blade is classified as an "other" since he does not belong to either world in the Blade film setting. Born as half human and half vampire he is set apart from both, since he hunts vampires and does not fit in with humans. This gives Blade a feeling of not being like the others, setting him apart due to his unusual birth. He is also a character that does not show any misogynistic or chauvinistic tendencies. He treats the other women that are part of his team as equals, never shielding them or insisting that they stay out of the fighting for their own safety. He even encourages Abigail to use her grief to fight the vampires to avenge her dead friends. The character of Blade is also set apart from the other characters due to his race. In the film, Blade is the only lead character of color, although it is not his race that sets him apart from the regular people of this world. In the world it seems that other circumstances with the vampires makes it unnecessary for there to be discrimination due to sex or race. It is in this world that women are strong fighters who are more than certainly on equal ground to the men. A woman creates the virus that wipes out vampires, the only child in the film is shown to stand fearless in the face of Dracula, and the strongest character in the movie is the female character of Abigail. The lone noble hero Blade needs the help of Abigail and Hannibal to finally take dow the vampires, saving the day as a group rather than just a singular hero. Even the villain of the film shows a different side, he accepts that Blade was right about the vampires and acknowledges him as the future of the vampire race. Blade: Trinity is very special in how it treats its characters, not many other films have gone against standard norms. Many other comic movies should be like this and maybe more will feature characters like Blade, also hopefully adding on to the short list of title superheroes of
